Finansal Başarısızlık Tahmin Modellerinin Karşılaştırılması: BİST Turizm İşletmeleri Üzerine Bir Uygulama

Abstract

ÖZ İşletmelerin finansal başarısızlıklarının etkileri sadece işletmenin sahiplerini değil, o işletmelerin tüm iç ve dış paydaşlarını etkiler. İşletme finansal başarısızlığı önceden tahmin edecek uyarı sistemlerine veya uyarı modellerine ihtiyaç duyar. Bu modeller yöneticilerin doğru hamleleri yapmasına ve şirketlerini iflastan kurtarmasına yardımcı olabilir. Bu çalışmada finansal başarısızlığın tahmin edilmesinde kullanılan finansal literatürde kabul gören modeller için, finansal başarısızlığın değerlendirmesi noktasında farklılıklar olup olmadığının hem işletme bazlı hem de model bazlı açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu bağlamda Borsa İstanbul’da işlem gören 11 adet turizm şirketi kapsama dahil edilmiştir. Çalışmada, söz konusu işletmelerin 2011 – 2018 yılları arasındaki 8 yıllık dönemdeki veriler finansal durum tablosu, kapsamlı gelir-gider tablosu ve nakit akım tablolarından elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler Altman’ın Z skoru, Z’ skoru ve Z’’ skoru modellerinde, Springate modelinde ve Fulmer modelinde kullanılarak, turizm şirketlerinin finansal başarısızlıkları araştırılmıştır. Yapılan çalışma sonucunda çalışma kapsamına dahil edilen turizm işletmeleri belirtilen modellerde aynı sonuçları vermemiştir. Bazı modellerde başarılı olarak ölçülen işletmeler bazı modellerde başarısız olarak ölçülmüştür. Benzer sonuçları çıkaran modellerin formüllerinde kullanılan finansal oranlar ve finansal kalemler aynı ancak katsayıların farklı olduğu görülmüştür. Yukarıda sayılan modeller ile finansal başarısızlığı tahmin etmede kesin bir sonuca varılamamaktadır. Çünkü işletmelerin finansal başarısızlıkları ya da finansal başarıları sadece işletmelerin finansal açıdan performanslarına bağlı olmadığı şirket yönetiminin etkinliğine de bağlı olduğu unutulmamalıdır.

ABSTRACT The effects of financial failures of businesses affect not only the owners of the business, but all internal and external stakeholders of those businesses. The business needs warning systems or warning models to predict financial failure. These models can help managers make the right moves and save their companies from bankruptcy. In this context, for the models accepted in the financial literature used in predicting financial failure, it is tried to explain whether there are differences in the evaluation of financial failure on both business and model basis. In this context, 11 tourism companies traded in Borsa Istanbul are included in the scope. In the study, the data of the mentioned enterprises for the 8-year period between 2011 and 2018 were obtained from the financial status table, comprehensive income-expense statement and cash flow statements. The financial failures of tourism companies were investigated by using the data obtained in Altman's Z score, Z 'score and Z' score models, Springate model and Fulmer model. Tourism enterprises included in the scope of the study as a result of the study did not give the same results in the specified models. Enterprises that have been measured as successful in some models have been measured as unsuccessful in some models. It has been observed that the financial ratios and financial items used in the formulas of models with similar results are the same, but the coefficients are different. With the above-mentioned models, it is not possible to reach a definite conclusion in predicting financial failure. Because it should be kept in mind that financial failures or financial success of businesses depend not only on the financial performance of the companies but also on the efficiency of the company management.
