Didim İlçesinin Sürdürülebilir Turizm Açısından Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

ÖZ Dünya kaynaklarının sınırlı olmasından hareketle insanlık bu kaynakları daha verimli kullanma yoluna yönelmiştir. Bunun için ortaya sürdürülebilirlik kavramı atılmıştır. Sürdürülebilirliğin tartışıldığı sektörlerden birisi de turizmdir. Dünyada ve Türkiye’de turizm faaliyetleri önemli bir ekonomik faaliyet olarak önemini her geçen gün arttırmaktadır. Türkiye de sahip olduğu zengin doğal ve kültürel coğrafyasıyla turizmden önemli faydalar elde etmektedir. Türkiye’nin önemli turizm varış yerlerinden biri de Aydın’a bağlı Didim ilçesidir. Bu araştırmada Didim ilçesinin sürdürülebilir turizmi çalışılmıştır. Bu kapsamda Didim ilçesinin coğrafi özellikleri de ele alınmış olup, özellikle ilçe sınırları içerisinde yaşayan yerel halkın sürdürülebilir turizm karşı tutumları incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın amacı Didim ilçesini sürdürülebilir turizm açısından değerlendirmek, ilçenin doğal, tarihi ve kültürel kaynaklarının turizm amaçlı kullanılır ve planlanırken ne ölçüde sürdürülebilirlik ilkelerinin uygulandığını turizmin önemli paydaşlarından biri olan yerel halkın bakış açısıyla (tutumlarıyla) analiz etmektir. Araştırmada karma model kullanılmıştır. Bu kapsamda Didim ilçe sınırları içerisinde ikamet eden 400 kişiye anket uygulanmış ve 30 kişiye ankette ölçülen tutumları daha kapsamlı anlamak için görüşme yöntemi kullanılarak yerel halka sorulmuştur. Ankette SPSS 20.00 paket programı yardımı ile frekans ve yüzde analizi, t-Testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) ve LSD analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel kısmında ise görüşme yöntemi kullanılmış, elde edilen tüm bulgular betimsel olarak (alıntılama yapılarak) analiz edilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçları, Didim ilçesinde yaşayan yerel halkın önemli bir bölümünün turizm faaliyetlerine olumlu baktığı ve sürdürülebilir turizme karşı olumlu bir tutum içinde oldukları şeklindedir. Yerel halkın çevresel sürdürülebilirlik boyutunda oldukça hassas oldukları anlaşılmaktadır. Ayrıca yerel halkın turizmin meydana getirdiği ekonomik faydaları önemsediği tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada sürdürülebilir turizmin önemli ilkelerinden biri olan turizm kararlarında tüm paydaşların temsil edilmesinin ilçede ihmal edildiği belirlenmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra yerel halkın gelecekte özellikle ilçede bulunan doğal alanların tahrip edilmesinden ve betonlaşmasından endişe ettikleri tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada yerel halkın sürdürülebilir turizm faaliyetlerine yönelik görüşleri katılımcıların medeni durum, eğitim durumu, meslek grubu ve gelir düzeyi değişkenlerine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermiştir. Yerel halkın sürdürülebilir turizm faaliyetlerine ilişkin görüşleri yaş, cinsiyet, göç, mesleğin turizmle ilgililik değişkenlerine göre ise anlamlı bir farklılık göstermediği belirlenmiştir.

ABSTRACT Based on the limited resources of the world, humanity has turned to the way of using these resources more efficiently. For optimum use of the resources, the concept of sustainability has been introduced. Tourism is one of the important sectors of sustainability discourse. The growth of tourism activities in the world and Turkey shows its importance as a major economic activity. Turkey, with its rich natural and cultural geography resources, has gained significant benefits from tourism. One of Turkey's most important tourism destinations is the Didim district of Aydın. In this research, the sustainable tourism of Didim district has been studied. In this context, the geographical features of Didim district were also considered, and the attitudes of the local people living within the boundaries of the district towards sustainable tourism were examined. The aim of the study is to evaluate Didim district in terms of sustainable tourism and to analyze the extent of the sustainability principles applied to the natural, historical and cultural resources of the district for tourism purposes. Moreover, the study also aimed to examine the perspective (attitudes) of local people towards tourism which constituted one of the important stakeholders of tourism. The mixed methods model was used in the research. In this context, a questionnaire was applied to 400 people residing in Didim district and 30 people were asked to understand the attitudes measured in the questionnaire, using the interview method. Frequency and percentage analysis, t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and LSD analysis were used in the questionnaire with the help of SPSS 20.00 package program. In the qualitative part of the study, the interview method was used, and all findings obtained were analyzed and interpreted descriptively (by quotation). The results of the research show that a significant part of the local people living in Didim district have a positive attitude towards tourism activities and have a positive attitude towards sustainable tourism. It is understood that local people are very sensitive in terms of environmental sustainability. In addition, it has been determined that local people care about the economic benefits of tourism. In the study, it was determined that the representation of all stakeholders in tourism decisions, which is one of the important principles of sustainable tourism, is neglected in the district. In addition, it has been determined that the local people are worried about the destruction and concreting of the natural areas in the district in the future. In the study, the views of the local people on sustainable tourism activities showed a significant difference according to the variables of marital status, educational status, occupational group and income level of the participants. It has been determined that the views of the local people on sustainable tourism activities do not differ significantly according to the variables of age, gender, immigration, and tourism relatedness of the profession.
