Abstract:
While population and settlement relations and urban functions change over time,
their sphere of influence creates geographic differences. Changing physical and human
conditions have changed and improved the settlement and population characteristics, the
administrative status of the study area, agriculture, industry and transportation
characteristics in the region over time.
In this study, it is aimed to discuss the population and settlement geography of
Isparta Central District in detail. Although there are various studies on Isparta Province,
such a study was needed due to the lack of a comprehensive study on the population and
settlement geography of the Central District. Field research, one of the qualitative
research methods, was applied in the study. Literature study on the field and subject has
been done. The population-based statistics of the Central District of Isparta was obtained
through Turkey Statistical Institute (TSI). Economic data belonging to the Central
District of Isparta were obtained from Isparta Chamber of Commerce, the school
information in the Central District was obtained from the Provincial Directorate of
National Education through the MEBBİS System, and also from the Higher Education
Council (YÖK) about the universities in Isparta has been obtained and Isparta climate
data has been obtained online from the General Directorate of Meteorology. In addition,
the list of public institutions in Isparta was taken from the Isparta Governorship. Maps
of the study area were created with Arcgis 10.4 program.
In the study, information about the population and settlement geography of
Isparta Central District is presented, and it is thought that the study will serve as a source
for future studies in the field.
