Kültürel Zekânın Akademik Motivasyon Üzerindeki Etkisi

Abstract

ÖZ

Araştırmanın amacı lisans öğrencilerinin kültürel zekâlarının akademik motivasyon üzerindeki etkisini belirlemektir. Araştırma kapsamında Karabük Üniversitesi’nde eğitim alan 428 lisans öğrencisinden anket toplanmış olup 409 anket değerlendirilmeye alınmıştır. Kültürel zekâyı ölçmek için Kültürel Zekâ Ölçeği (Cultural Intelligence Scale) ve akademik motivasyonu ölçmek için ise Akademik Motivasyon Ölçeği (Academic Motivation Scale) kullanılmıştır. İstatistik paket programında verilerin analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin analizlerinde T testi, Anova, Tukey, korelasyon ve regresyon yöntemleri uygulanmıştır. Katılımcıların demografik özelliklerine göre dağılımları ise frekans ve yüzde yöntemi kullanılarak hesaplanmıştır. Kültürel zekânın boyutları ile akademik motivasyonun boyutları (bilmeye yönelik içsel motivasyon, başarıya yönelik içsel motivasyon, uyarım yaşamaya yönelik içsel motivasyon, belirlenmiş dışsal motivasyon, içe yansıyan dışsal motivasyon, dışsal motivasyon – dış düzenleme) arasında pozitif yönlü ve anlamlı ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Kültürel zekânın boyutları (üst bilişsel, motivasyonel, davranışsal) ile akademik motivasyonun motivasyonsuzluk boyutu arasında ters yönlü bir ilişki görülmüştür. Ayrıca, bilişsel boyut ile motivasyonsuzluk boyutu arasında bir ilişki tespit edilmemiştir. Araştırma hipotezleri sonucunda, kültürel zekânın akademik motivasyonu anlamlı bir şekilde etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. Kültürel zekâ (üst bilişsel, motivasyonel davranışsal) boyutlarının akademik motivasyon boyutlarını anlamlı ve pozitif yönde etkilediği görülmektedir. Ancak, bilişsel boyut ile diğer boyutlar arasında anlamlı ve pozitif yönde etkinin bulunduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

ABSTRACT The aim of the study is to determine the effect of undergraduate students' cultural intelligence on academic motivation. Within the scope of the research, questionnaires were collected from 428 undergraduate students studying at Karabük University and 409 questionnaires were evaluated. The Cultural Intelligence Scale was used to measure cultural intelligence and the Academic Motivation Scale was used to measure academic motivation. The analysis of the data was carried out in the statistical packet program. T test, Anova, Tukey, correlation and regression methods were used in the analysis of the data. The distribution of the participants according to their demographic characteristics was calculated using the frequency and percentage method.

A positive and significant relationship was found between the dimensions of cultural intelligence and the dimensions of academic motivation (intrinsic motivation to know, intrinsic motivation to accomplish, intrinsic motivation to experience stimulation, extrinsic motivation identified regulation, extrinsic motivation introjected regulation, extrinsic motivation external regulation). An inverse relationship was observed between the dimensions of cultural intelligence (metacognitive cultural quotient, motivational cultural quotient, behavioral cultural quotient) and the amotivation dimension of academic motivation. In addition, no relationship was found between the cognitive cultural quotient and the amotivation dimension.

As a result of the research hypotheses, it was determined that cultural intelligence significantly affects academic motivation. It is seen that the dimensions of cultural intelligence (metacognitive cultural quotient, motivational cultural quotient, behavioral cultural quotient) significantly and positively affect academic motivation. However, it was concluded that there is a significant and positive effect between the cognitive cultural quotient and other dimensions.
