ÖZET
Bu çalışmada, karbon fiber (CF) ve Hidrotermal karbon kaplı-CF ile takviyeli termoplastik polietilenin mekanik ve termal özelliklerinin incelenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Dolayısıyla eşsiz özelliklere sahip yapısı gereği kırpılmış karbon fiberler kullanılmıştır. Karbon fiberlerin yüzeyleri hidrotermal karbonizasyon yöntemi (HTC) ile kaplanmıştır. HTC kaplı karbon fiberlerin yüzey modifikasyonu Taramalı Elektron Mikroskobu (SEM) ile incelenmiştir. Ekstrüder ve enjeksiyon kalıplama yöntemi öncesinde, CF-HTC yüzeyinde bulunan HTC ile polietilen arayüzeyindeki pürüzlülüğün arttırılması için 12 saat boyunca potasyum hidroksit (KOH) aktivasyonu yapılmıştır. KOH aktivasyonu yapılan fiberler 650 °C sıcaklıkta ısıl işleme tabi tutulmuştur. Enjeksiyon kalıplama yöntemi ile üretilen polietilen polimer kompozit malzemenin dayanımlarını belirlemek için çekme ve aşınma testleri uygulanmıştır. Üretilen termoplastik polietilen KOH/HTC-CF polimer kompozitin, yüzey modifikasyonu SEM ve FTIR analizleriyle incelenmiştir. Mekanik özellikleri için çekme dayanımı, aşınma ve termogravimetrik (TGA) Analizi yapılmıştır.
ABSTRACT
In this study, it is aimed to examine the mechanical and thermal properties of thermoplastic polyethylene reinforced with carbon fiber (CF) and hydrothermal caron-coated CF. Therefore, chopped CFs have been used due to their unique properties.CFs were coated by hydrothermal carbonization method (HTC).Surface modification of HTC coated carbon fibers was investigated by SEM. Before the extruder and injection molding method, it was kept in a potassium hydroxide (KOH) bath for 12 hours in order to increase the pores (porosity) at the interface of HTC and polyethylene on the CF-HTC surface.The fibers kept in the KOH bath were heat treated at 650°C.Tensile and abrasion tests were applied to determine the strength of the polyethylene polymer composite material produced by the injection molding method.The surface modification of the produced thermoplastic polyethylene KOH/HTC-CF polymer composite was investigated by SEM and FTIR techniques. Tensile strength, abrasion and thermogravimetric (TGA) were performed for its mechanical properties.
