ABSTRACT
Venture capital investment trusts are investment partnerships that contribute to the development of new ventures by investing in startups. In this research, it is aimed to reveal the risk-return characteristics of Venture Capital Investment Trusts (VCITs), which are operating in Turkey and listed on the Borsa Istanbul, and to guide the investors who want to invest in VCITs. The data set used in the research consists of weekly return series of the six VCITs and BIST100 covering the 2015-2021 period. Sharpe Ratio and Treynor Ratio, which are risk-adjusted performance measurement methods based on CAPM, and CAPM were used to determine the risk-return characteristics. According to the CAPM model, four of VCITs have a lower systematic risk than the market, and two have a higher systematic risk than the market. According to the Sharpe Ratio and Treynor Ratio results, the most successful VCIT is Hub and the lowest performing REIT is Rhea. The performance of almost all of the VCITs is higher than BIST100.
