ABSTRACT
In this study, borate-based glasses, which have the potential to develop advanced materials that can be efficient for technological innovations, and whose popularity has been increasing in recent studies, are discussed.
Based on the designed B2O3-ZnO-TiO2 glass system, the synthesis, structural and optical properties of glass samples were investigated. Glass samples were obtained using conventional melt quenching technique at room temperature. It was determined that the glass samples obtained were transparent and colorless. Following the production of glass samples, measurement of the densities of the samples using Archimedes principle, then the structural and optical properties of the obtained glass samples by differential thermal analysis (DTA), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Raman spectrophotometer, x-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron Microscopy (SEM) and UV-VIS-NIR absorption spectrophotometers were investigated by taking into account systematic experimental techniques.
Two crystal phases of the glass system obtained in XRD analysis, Zn3(BO3)2 and TiO2, were determined. It is seen that the measurement values of glass samples containing different values of ZnO change with the concentration of the ZnO component. In addition, the glass samples obtained have a homogeneous distribution and which has a good thermal and mechanical stability.
