ABSTRACT
A large number and variety of studies have been carried out on the improvement and development of all operating characteristics, especially performance and energy consumption, of household cooling systems, which have become one of the indispensable elements of today's world; and new studies continue to be made due to the increasing importance of these systems in human life.
In this study, the defrosting process, which constitutes an important part of the energy use in household cooling devices, and which is a mandatory application in order to reduce the energy consumption of the system and increase its performance by ensuring that the accumulation of frozen water on the evaporator does not prevent heat transfer over time, has been studied. The most important feature that distinguishes this study from other studies is the design of a system to evaluate and use the heat released from the condenser to the outside environment in the defrosting process, instead of an electric heater and examining its operating characteristics.
For this purpose, defrosting process using both electrical heater and condenser waste heat in a household cooling device has been investigated by separate sets of experiments. In experimental and theoretical studies, the COP, energy consumption, compressor work, exergy efficiency, changes in the capacities of the system elements and defrosting processes of the cooling system under additional cooling loads of 0, 25, 50 and 75 W have been investigated comparatively. |
