Otel Çalışanlarının Zaman Yönetimi, İş Stresi ve Yaşam Doyumu Arasındaki İlişkinin Analizi: Pandemi Dönemi Örneği

Abstract

ÖZET

21. yüzyılın başlarına doğru küresel anlamda yaşanan hızlı değişim, ekonomik gelişmeler ve salgın hastalıklar insan yaşamı için zamanın ne kadar önemli olduğunu göstermektedir. Yaşanan bu değişim, bireyler üzerinde zaman baskısını artırmış ve zaman baskısı altında kalan bireyler hem iş hayatında hem de sosyal yaşamlarında zaman yetersizliği sorunuyla daha çok karşı karşıya kalmışlardır. Pandemi döneminin etkilerinin başında sağlık sektörü gelmiş olsada turizm sektörü üzerinde de etkileri oldukça fazladır. Bu durum, otel çalışanlarında kişisel stres ve iş stresi, yaşam ve iş doyumsuzluğu gibi olumsuz sonuçlar doğurmuştur. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Covid 19 Pandemisi döneminde otel çalışanlarının zaman yönetiminin iş stresi ve yaşam doyumu üzerindeki etkisini incelemektir. Çalışmada anket tekniğinden yararlanılmış ve araştırma verileri, turizm sektörünün yoğun olduğu Antalya ilinin Manavgat ve Kemer ilçelerindeki 4 ve 5 yıldızlı otellerde çalışan toplam 405 çalışan üzerinden elde edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; zaman yönetiminin iş stresi üzerinde, iş stresinin de yaşam doyumu üzerinde olumlu ve anlamlı etkisi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca zaman yönetimi alt boyutlarından zaman kayıpları ile işteki zaman kayıplarının iş stresi üzerinde etkisi olduğu bulgularına ulaşılırken zaman tutumlarının da yaşam doyumu üzerinde etkisi olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Çalışanların demografik özellikleri incelendiğinde zaman yönetimi, iş stresi ve yaşam doyum düzeyleri arasında farklılaşmalar olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

ABSTRACT

The rapid global change, economic developments and epidemics towards the beginning of the 21st century show how important time is for human life. This change and development has increased the time pressure on the affected individuals, and the individuals who are under time pressure are more likely to face the problem of lack of time both in their business life and in their social lives. Although the health sector has come at the beginning of the effects of the pandemic period, its effects on the tourism sector are also quite high. This situation has resulted in negative results such as personal and job stress, life and job dissatisfaction among hotel employees. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of time management of hotel employees on job stress and life satisfaction during the Covid 19 Pandemic period. The survey technique was used in the study and the research data were obtained from a total of 405 employees working in 4 and 5 star hotels in the Manavgat and Kemer districts of Antalya, where the tourism sector is intense. According to the research results; It has been concluded that time management has a positive and significant effect on job stress and job stress has a positive and significant effect on life satisfaction. In addition, it was found that time loss, which is one of the sub-dimensions of time management, and time losses at work have an effect on job stress, and it was concluded that time attitudes also have an effect on life satisfaction. When the demographic characteristics of the employees were examined, it was determined that there were differences between time management, job stress and life satisfaction levels.
