Çalışmaya katılan yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin %83,1’i kadın ve %66,9’u lisans mezunudur. Yaş ortalaması ise 32,44±6,54’tür. HYÖ toplam puanı 168,4±30,92 bulunmuştur. Hemşirelerin yetkinlik düzeyleri ile yaş, meslekte çalışma süresi, yoğun bakımda çalışma süresi arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki saptanmazken (p>0,05); cinsiyet, yoğun bakım sertifikasına sahip olma ve eğitim ABSTRACT This descriptive-relational study was conducted to examine the relationship between professional competence and job satisfaction levels of nurses working in intensive care units. It was conducted with 124 intensive care nurses working in Karabük Training and Research Hospital between February 01 and April 30, 2022. Data were collected with participant information form, nurse competency scale (NQS) and nurse job satisfaction scale (NJS). Descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk, Bonferroni, Kruskal-Wallis, Dunn-Bonferroni tests, Pearson correlation analysis and Cronbach alpha coefficient were used to analyze the data. Statistical significance was accepted as p<0.05. Among the intensive care nurses who participated in the study, 83.1% were female and 66.9% were undergraduate graduates. The mean age was 32.44±6.54 years. The total score of the HRQoL was 168.4±30.92. While no statistically significant relationship was found between the competency levels of nurses and age, working time in the profession, and working time in intensive care (p>0.05), a positive significant relationship was found between gender, having an intensive care certificate, and educational status (p<0.05). The total score of the HCCS was found to be 98.31±14.89. There was no significant correlation between the NCCS and nurses' age, working time in the profession, working time in intensive care, education and certification status (p>0.05); while a positive correlation was found between gender and the sub-dimension of perceived importance in the workplace of the NCCS (p=0.025). The competence of the intensive care nurses participating in the study was found to be at a very good level and job satisfaction was slightly above average. It was found that there was a positive, weakly significant correlation between the HLQ and the HCCS (r=0.387, p<0.001). In line with the results of this study, it can be said that the concepts of competence and job satisfaction are related to each other and that employees' having sufficient job satisfaction positively affects their skills and performance. It is recommended that nurses should be motivated at work and their professional knowledge should be updated by providing regular in-service trainings. en_EN
