BRÜTALİST MİMARİ AÇISINDAN KUZEY MAKEDONYA VE TÜRKİYE ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Abstract

ÖZET

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Kuzey Makedonya ve Türkiye’deki örnekler üzerinden brutalist mimarinin karşılaştırılmasıdır. Çalışma beş aşamadan oluşmaktadır. Bu kapsamda öncelikle brütalizm kavramı ele alınarak beton analizi ve üretim süreci üzerinde durulmuştur. Geçmişten günümüze beton üretimi ve farklı uygulamaları için betona eklenen diğer malzemeler araştırılmıştır. Daha sonra brütalizmin dünyadaki modern mimarlık akımları içindeki gelişimi ve uygulamaları çerçevesinde Makedonya’da brütalizmin gelişim süreci incelenmiştir. Bu kapsamda 1963 yılında meydana gelen depremden sonra çalışma alanı olarak belirlediğimiz Üsküp, Ohri, Kruşeva,Kavadar gibi şehirlerde yaşanan yıkım ve yapıların gördüğü zararlar üzerinde durulmuştur. Çalışmanın diğer aşaması olan Türkiye’de brütalizmin gelişimi ve uygulamalarıyla, özellikle Ankara, İstanbul ve İzmir başta olmak üzere çeşitli kentlerden seçilen örnekler alınmıştır. Söz konusu örnekler üzerinden brütalizmin, özellikle 1950’li yıllardan sonra Türkiye’de mimarlık uygulamaları içinde nasıl bir üslupsal yeri olduğu incelenmiştir. Çalışmada her iki ülke için literatür taraması yapılarak brütalist mimari üzerinde yapılan çalışmalar incelenmiştir. Her iki ülkedeki farklı örnekler tespit edilerek yapılar hakkında bilgi edinilmiştir. Fotoğraf tekniği kullanılarak belgeleme yöntemi ile her iki ülke örnekleri için katalog kısmı oluşturulmuştur. Seçilen örneklerin her biri için tek tek analiz tablosu oluşturulmuştur. Son aşamada her iki ülkedeki brütalist mimari örnekleri kendi siyasi, ekonomik ve sosyo-kültürel ortamı içerisinde değerlendirilerek bir sonuca ulaşılmıştır.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to compare brutalist architecture through examples in North Macedonia and Turkey. The study consists of five stages. In this context, first of all, the concept of brutalism was discussed and concrete analysis and production process were emphasized. Other materials added to concrete for concrete production and different applications from past to present have been researched. Then, the development process of brutalism in Macedonia was examined within the framework of the development and applications of brutalism in modern architectural movements in the world. In this context, the destruction and damage to buildings in cities such as Skopje, Ohrid, Krusheva,Kavadar which we determined as the study area after the earthquake in 1963, were emphasized. With the development and practices of brutalism in Turkey, which is the other stage of the study, samples selected from various cities, especially Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir, were taken. Through the examples in question, the stylistic place of brutalism in architectural practices in Turkey, especially after the 1950s, has been examined. In the study, literature review for both countries was conducted and studies on brutalist architecture were examined. Different examples in both countries were identified and information was obtained about the structures. A catalog section was created for the examples of both countries with the documentation method using the photographic technique. An analysis table was created for each of the selected samples one by one. At the last stage, the brutalist architectural examples in both countries were evaluated in their own political, economic and socio-cultural environment and a conclusion was reached.
