ABSTRACT
One of the biggest problems in a working machine system is the wear that directly affects the equipment life. One of the many types of wear we encounter is erosive wear. In the transport of materials with a certain particle size, for example, erosive wear, which is a type of wear, is often encountered in the slag transport system in blast furnaces. While the slag is transferred in a liquid and fluid medium, machinery equipment is exposed to sludge erosion. Slurry erosion is one of the most effective types of erosion wear. High erosion rate significantly shortens the life of the equipment of the transfer system and increases the maintenance costs. In this study, slurry erosion wear test setup was used and the abrasiveness on St-52 and Sulzer materials was evaluated by using slurry in the experiments. A 10% density slurry was prepared for the abrasive. The experiments were carried out at 2.5 m/s, 4 m/s and 5.5 m/s circumferential velocities and at 30⁰, 60⁰ and 90⁰ angles. In this
experimental study, it was determined that the abrasiveness of the sludge prepared with a certain particle size is in a direct relationship with the impact rate, time and
angle. It was found that the wear rate increased as the impact speed increased. Impact velocity was found to be the biggest factor in this wear. In addition, the wear surfaces were examined using SEM to understand the wear mechanisms. |
