Gözetim Toplumu Perspektifinde Görsel Sanat Üretimleri

Abstract

ÖZ

"Gözetleme toplumu" kavramı, gözetim teknolojilerinin ve uygulamalarının yaygınlaştığı ve normalleştirildiği, bireylerin faaliyetleri ve davranışlarının daha fazla izlenmesine ve kontrol edilmesine yol açan bir toplumu ifade etmektedir. Bu bağlamda görsel sanat üretimi, gözetleme merceğinden birkaç şekilde incelenmektedir. Birincisi, görsel sanatın üretimi ve yayılması, hükümetler, şirketler veya bireyler gibi çeşitli kuruluşların gözetimine tabi olmuştur. Bu gözetim, sansür ve içerik filtrelemeden çevrimiçi etkinliklerin izlenmesine ve meta veri toplamaya kadar çeşitli biçimler almıştır. Bazı durumlarda, bu gözetim, özellikle baskıcı hükümetlerin veya içerik oluşturmaya ilişkin katı yasaların olduğu ülkelerde, otosansüre veya sanatsal ifade üzerinde caydırıcı bir etkiye yol açtığı bilinmektedir. İkincisi, görsel sanat aynı zamanda bir gözetleme ve kontrol aracı olarak da kullanılmaktadır. ABSTRACT The concept of "surveillance society" refers to a society in which surveillance technologies and practices are widespread and normalized, leading to greater monitoring and control of the activities and behavior of individuals. In this context, the production of visual art can be examined in several ways through the lens of surveillance. First, the production and dissemination of visual art may be subject to the oversight of various organizations such as governments, companies or individuals. This surveillance can take many forms, from censorship and content filtering to monitoring of online activities and collecting metadata. In some cases, this surveillance can lead to self-censorship or a chilling effect on artistic expression, especially in countries with repressive governments or strict laws on content creation. Second, visual art can also be used as a surveillance and control tool. For example, facial recognition technology can be used to monitor the movements and activities of individuals, while drones and other forms of surveillance technology can be used to monitor public spaces. Visual art can be used to propagate a particular worldview or ideology or to reinforce existing power structures. Finally, visual art can also be used as a form of resistance to surveillance and control. Artists can use their work to criticize and challenge surveillance practices, or to highlight how surveillance technologies can be used to marginalize and oppress certain communities. In this way, visual art can be a powerful tool to raise awareness and promote social change. In summary, the production of visual art can be seen as a means of resistance and criticism against these practices as well as subject to surveillance and control in the context of the surveillance society.
