ÜNİVERSİTE ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN SINAVLARINA VE BAŞARILARINA YÖNELİK ÖNGÖRÜ ÇALIŞMASI

Abstract

ÖZET

Bu çalışmanın amacı; üniversite öğrencilerinin ders notlarına ait verilerle öğrenci başarı analizi yapmak ve başarı sonuçlarına göre çıkarımlarda ve öngörülerde bulunmaktır. Son zamanlarda bilgisayar teknolojilerinin hızla ilerlemesi ve eldeki verilerin artması ile birlikte veri analizi çalışmaları diğer alanlarda olduğu gibi eğitim alanında da büyük önem kazanmıştır. Eldeki verileri anlamlandırmak ve faydalı hale getirmek ilgili alanla ilgili önemli çıkarımların elde edilmesine fırsat sağlayacaktır.

Günümüzde öğrenci verilerinin çok sayıda ve çeşitli olması veri büyüdükçe yapılan analizlerin daha kapsamlı, ayrıntılı ve çok yönlü araştırmayı önemli hale getirmektedir. Bu önemden hareketle bu çalışmada Karabük Üniversitesindeki okuyan öğrencilerin verileri analiz edilerek ders başarılarına etki eden faktörlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu çerçevede Bilgisayar Mühendisliği bölümündeki farklı programlarda okuyan öğrencilerin bölüm ve programlarına göre ders başarılarını incelemek, tahmin etmek ve öğrencilerin dersi öğrenmeye yönelik davranışlarını anlamak için çıkarımlarda bulunulmuştur. Bu çalışmada Karabük Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümündeki öğrencilere ait olan veriler üzerinde işlemler yapılmıştır. Elde edilen verilere göre öğrenci notlarının ders, dersin grubu, program, dönem bilgileriyle ilişki durumları analiz edilmiştir. Veri madenciliği yöntemleri ve algoritmaları kullanılarak derslerin birbiriyle ilişkisi, başarı oranlarının tespiti ve analizi yapılmıştır. Yorumlaması ve değerlendirmesi Sonuçlar kısmında belirtilmiştir.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study is to analyze student achievement with the data of university students' course grades and to make inferences and predictions based on the achievement results. Recently, with the rapid advancement of computer technologies and the increase in available data, data analysis studies have gained great importance in the field of education as in other fields. Making sense of the available data and making it useful will provide the opportunity to make important inferences about the relevant field.

Today, the large number and variety of student data makes it important to conduct more comprehensive, detailed and multifaceted research as the data grows. Based on this importance, this study aims to analyze the data of the students studying at Karabük University and to determine the factors affecting their course success. In this framework, inferences were made to examine and predict the course success of students studying in different programs in the Department of Computer Engineering according to their departments and programs and to understand students' behaviors towards learning the course.

In this study, the data belonging to the students in Karabük University Computer Engineering Department were analyzed. According to the data obtained, the relationship of student grades with course, course group, program period information was analyzed. Using data mining methods and algorithms, the relationship between the courses and the success rates were determined and analyzed. Interpretation and evaluation are stated in the results and recommendations section.
