XIX. Yüzyılda Kastamonu Vilayeti’nde Salgın Hastalıklar

Abstract

ÖZET

Salgın hastalıklar tarihin hemen hemen her döneminde görülmüş olup Dünya’nın farklı bölgelerine yayılan bu hastalıklar ciddi ölümlere yol açmıştır. Cüzzam, veba, kolera, çiçek, tifo, frengi salgınları Osmanlı Devleti için de felaketlere sebep olmuştur. XIX. yüzyılda hastalıkların görüldüğü Osmanlı Devleti vilayetlerinden biri de Kastamonu‘dur. Kastamonu’da salgınlar 93 Harbi sonrası artmış olup, önemli bir kıyı kent olması hastalıkların yayılmasını kolaylaştırmıştır. Kastamonu’da XIX. yüzyılda cüzzam, kolera, çiçek, tifo ve frengi salgınları görülmüştür. Bu hastalıklar can ve mal kaybına yol açmıştır. Kastamonu’da özellikle frengi büyük kayıplara sebep olmuştur. Devlet bu hastalıkları önlemek için bölgeye ilaç göndermiş ayrıca hekim ve eczacıları bölgeye tayin etmiştir. Karantinahaneler ve hastaneler açılmıştır. Bu çalışmada XIX. yüzyılda Kastamonu Vilayeti’ndeki salgın hastalıklar hakkında bilgi verilmiştir.

ABSTRACT

Epidemic diseases almost were seen in each period of history and these diseases which was spread to the world’s different regions gave rise to significant death. These epidemic diseases such as leprosy, plague, cholera, smallpox, typhiod and syphilis caused catashtrophic events in Ottoman as well. One of the provinces of Ottoman was Kastamonu where the diseases were in XIX’th century. Epidemic diseases increased in Kastamonu after the ’93 War and the spread of diseases facilitated because Kastamonu was an important coastal town. Leprosy, cholera, smallpox, typhoid and syphilis epidemic diseases were seem in Kastamonu in XIX’th century. These diseases caused the loss of life and property. Especially syphilis caused the significant losses in Kastamonu. Goverment sent medicine to the region for preventing the diseases, also assigned doctors and pharmacist. Quarantine and hospitals were opened. In this study, information was given about epidemic diseases in Kastamonu in XIX’th century.
