ABSTRACT
In this study, regarding the ambient temperature and the solar radiation, on a polycrystalline photovoltaic panel, the effect of rear-panel air velocity on cooling has been searched. Cooling the panels causes the rear-panel temperature to drop and thus the open-circuit voltage to increase. Panel temperature increase, caused by the ambient air temperature and solar radiation, accounts for the most significant losses in the panels. In this study; for air velocities of 0-5 m/s and ambient temperatures of 10-40 ºC, changes of rear-panel temperature have been investigated and also, regarding varying rear-panel temperatures, varying rear-panel air velocities and varying ambient air temperatures, the heat transfer from the panel surface has been searched. The effect of various temperature differences between ambient air and rear-panel surface on the heat transfer coefficient is less than that of air velocity. For the situations in which ambient air temperature is 10-40 ºC and air velocity is 5 m/s, the heat transfer
coefficient of the polycrystalline solar panel has been determined as 11,6 W/m2K. According to the calculations; under weather conditions of winter, panels’ temperatures don’t reach to a level in which the cooling is necessary.
