Özet
Milliyetçilik ve ulusal kimlikler, SSCB sonrası dünyanın temel özellikleri olmaya devam etmiştir. Rus olmayan devletlerdeki kimlik politikalarının ""zor, sürekli değişen bir doğaya"" sahip olduğu ve ""tutarlı bir örüntünün ortaya çıktığı anda sürekli değişen bir yapıda olduğu görülmüştür. Azerbaycan SSCB’nin unvanlı ulusu Türkçe konuşmasına ve İran'la güçlü kültürel ve tarihi bağlara sahip olmasına rağmen, SSCB rejimi Türk ve İran geçmişinden boşanmış bir ulusal kimlik inşa etmiştir. Çok uluslu birliktelikler sonrasında oluşan siyasal yapılar kayıplarını bulmaya çalışmaktadır. Bu doğrultuda egemenlik anlatısı ulus inşasında önemli olurken, motivasyon unsuru oluşturmaktadır. SSCB’de misyon son bulunmasının ardından bağımsızlıklar ilan edilmiştir. Ulus devlet temelinde siyasal bağımsızlıklar amacıyla ulusların inşası için harekete geçilmiştir. Çarlık Rusyası’nın dağılmasının ardından meydana gelen yönetim boşluğunun hükümetlerle doldurulma çalışmaları oluşmuştur. SSCB’nin kurulmasının ardından gücü elinde bulunduran ve SSCB olan Azerbaycan’da farklı kimlikler belirlenmiş ve kimliklerin Sovyet insanına dönüşmesi amaç edinilmiştir. SSCB yönetiminde uygulanan kimlik inşası ulus-devlet modeline dönüşmüştür. Tez araştırmasının amacı, modern Azerbaycan 'da ulusal bir siyasi kimliğin oluşumunda bölgesel kimliğin rolünü ve önemini ortaya çıkarmaktır.
Nationalism and national identities continued to be key features of the post-Soviet world. Identity politics in non-Russian states have been found to be of a ""difficult, ever-changing nature"" and ""constantly changing once a consistent pattern emerges. The titled nation of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic speaks Turkish and has strong cultural and historical ties to Iran."" The aim of the thesis research is to reveal the role and importance of regional identity in the formation of a national political identity in modern Azerbaijan."
