FEN VE MÜHENDİSLİK FAKÜLTESİNDE ÖĞRENİM GÖRMEKTE OLAN YABANCI UYRUKLU ÖĞRENCİLERİN EĞİTİM SÜRECİNDE YAŞADIKLARI SORUNLAR: KARABÜK ÜNİVERSİTESİ ÖRNEĞİ

Özet
Bu araştırmada, Karabük Üniversitesi Fen ve Mühendislik Fakültesinde öğrenim görmekte olan yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin eğitim sürecinde karşılaştıkları sorunlar incelenmiştir. Bu yönüyle araştırma, öğrencilerin eğitim hayatları sürecinde yaşadıkları sorunları ortaya koymaya ve bu sorunlara çözümönerileri sunmaya odaklanmış bütünleşik karma bir çalışmadır. Çalışmanın katılımcılarını, Karabük Üniversitesi Fen ve Mühendislik Fakültelerindeki İnşaat, Bilgisayar, Mekatronik, Tıp, Biyomedikal, Endüstri, Elektrik-Elektronik, Makine, Çevre Mühendisliği ve Matematik, Kimya, Fizik bölümlerinde öğrenim görmekte olan 152 öğrenciile bu bölümlerde ders vermekte olan 21 akademisyen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmadaki veriler katılımcılara uygulanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formlarından elde edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin; dil yetersizliği, iletişim sorunu, devam zorunluluğu, burs yetersizliği, sözel ve sayısal derslerinin zorluğu, çalışma faaliyetleri, sınavda çıkan sorular, sınav süresi ve kaygısı gibi konularda sorun yaşadıkları belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca çalışmanın temelini oluşturan olan sayısal derslerde yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin sözel derslere göre daha az anlama güçlüğü problemi yaşadıkları belirlenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda da bu sorunların giderilmesine yönelik birtakım öneriler sunulmuştur.
In this particular research, the challenges faced by international students enrolled in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Karabük University during their education process have been examined. In this regard, the research is an integrated mixed-method study focused on revealing the problems students experience in their educational lives and providing solutions to these issues. The participants of the study consist of 152 students studying in the departments of Construction, Computer, Mechatronics, Medicine, Biomedical, Industrial, Electrical-Electronics, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, and Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Karabük University, along with 21 academics teaching in the previously mentioned departments. The data for the research were obtained through semi-structured interview forms administered to the participants. As a result of the research, it was determined that students face challenges in areas such as language proficiency, communication issues, compulsory attendance, insufficient scholarships, difficulty in verbal and numerical courses, study activities, exam questions, exam duration, and anxiety. Furthermore, it was found that international students experienced less difficulty in understanding numerical courses, which form the basis of the study, compared to verbal courses. The research concludes with a set of recommendationsaimed at addressingtheseissues."
