Adaptation, Validity and Reliability of the Climate Anxiety Scale to Turkish: A Sample of Healthcare Professionals

Objective: In the study, it was aimed to determine the validity and reliability of the Climate Anxiety Scale in healthcare professional samples by adapting it to Turkish. Methods: The study, which is a methodological research, was completed with 133 healthcare professionals working in a training and research hospital. Data were evaluated with IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences V23 and IBM AMOS V24 package programs. Confirmatory and explanatory factor analyses were used to determine the factor structure of the scale, test-retest method was used to ensure criterion validity, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to evaluate reliability. Results: As a result of the analysis, 1 item was removed from the scale and a 3-dimensional structure was accepted as functional impairment, cognitive impairment, and excessive thinking. It was decided that the scale could be accepted as valid in a structure with 12 items and 3 sub-dimensions. Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the scale was 0.873; 0.834 for the functional impairment sub-dimension, 0.734 for the cognitive impairment sub-dimension, and 0.805 for the excessive thinking sub-dimension. The items in the scale are not collectable. Each sub-dimension should be evaluated on its own. Conclusion: As a result, it has been determined that the Climate Anxiety Scale is a valid and reliable scale that can be used to determine the level of climate anxiety in healthcare professionals with 12 items and 3 sub-dimensions. Considering the Cronbach's alpha values of the scale and its sub-dimensions, it can be said that the scale is reliable.
