Özet
This study evaluates the "human" theme in the stories of Cevat Şakir Kabaa?açli{dotless} (1939-1973), one of the prominent figures of Republic Era Turkish literature. Changing exile into love, Halikarnas Bali{dotless}kçi{dotless}si{dotless} was an author who preferred Bodrum, where he was sentenced to fortress confinement and lived for the rest of his life, to the aristocratic life of Istanbul. In his stories Cevat Şakir described the people and life of the coastline of Aegean Sea including Bodrum from a unique and realist perspective. As much as his literary works, he is wellknown for his passion for Bodrum. In his works, with their lime-washed houses and deep blue sea, Bodrum is like an antique human being whom voice resonates from the past to the present. His intertwined life with the sea and Bodrum is also reflected on the characters in his stories. Therefore, this study investigates the human types in his stories.
