In the study, pyrolysis of waste wood sawdust was performed at different temperatures (300, 400, 500, 600 °C) without and with catalysts. The effect of temperature on the product distribution and composition of bio-oils was investigated in the experiments without catalyst. The maximum bio-oil (9,67 wt%) and liquid product yield (52,79 wt%) were obtained from the experiment at 500 °C in the non-catalytic pyrolysis experiments. Different types of catalysts (MgCl2, ZnCl2, clinoptilolite, Mg-loaded clinoptilolites and Zn-loaded clinoptilolites) were used at 500 °C with different catalyst loadings (10, 20, 40 wt%) in the catalytic pyrolysis experiments. Two different methods were used to prepare metal loaded clinoptilolites. The product yields were significantly affected by the type of catalyst and catalyst ratio. The effects of catalyst type and catalyst ratio on the composition of bio-oils were also investigated. Phenolic compounds were the major compounds which were found in the bio-oils obtained from non-catalytic and catalytic experiments with clinoptilolites. The higher heating values of bio-oils which were obtained from catalytic and non-catalytic pyrolysis experiments were higher than the raw material.
