The present study was carried out to investigate the effects of belief in a just world and gender on counterproductive work behaviors. Belief in a Just World and Counterproductive Work Behavior Checklist were administered to 400 public and private sectors employees. Two separate 2 (belief in a just world: high-low) x 2 (gender: male-female) MANOVA's applied to general and personal belief in a just world. The results of following ANOVA's indicated that participants low in general belief in a just world as compared with those high in general belief in a just world scored higher on withdrawal dimension of CBW. Similarly, participants low in personal belief in a just world scored higher on abuse, withdrawal and sabotage dimensions. The results also showed that male participants displayed more counterproductive work behaviors on abuse, sabotage and theft dimensions than did female participants.
