Experience of Geography Department Students towards Three-Dimensional Material Development: The Case of Karabuk University

Özet
Aim of this study is to determine of the student perceptions regarding contribution of visual material preparing in order to reinforce of the generation and evolution process of the fundamental landforms in the content of Geomorphology courses. The research realized with 75 students who studied in the 3rd grade (5th semester) undergraduate program of Geography Department of Karabuk University within the 2013-2014 academic year. Materials that were prepared by the students were exhibited at the end of the semester. After the exhibition, a form questionnaire that occurs from open-ended questions was performed to the students towards to assess if there is any contribution for supporting their knowledge by simulating some of landforms that they learnt through triennial Geomorphology education. The answers were recorded, summarized by using descriptive analysis technique, illustrated in tables, and interpreted. According to the findings, students stated that three-dimensional material development was very beneficial for Geomorphology education, it made their knowledge permanent through learning by doing and living, their creativity and handcraft improved, the exhibition motivated them, they felt that they carried out one each Geographer identity. Besides, they explained that they aspired for preparing more different materials, and they recommended regarding to this practice could be done for all Physical Geography courses.
