It is mostly inducedby herpes simplex infections and various medications. Recurrences of herpessimplex infections result in new erythema multiforme lesions in immunologicallysusceptible people. Therefore, suppressing herpes reactivations also suppresseserythema multiforme attacks. Antiviral medications such as acyclovir, valacyclovirand famciclovir have limited capacity to prevent such recurrences due totheir inadequate efficiency after continuous use . Those patients usually seekan absolute remedy to prevent recurrences. Bromelain is a well-known herbalsupplement containing proteolytic enzymes produced from pineapple plant. Ithas been used in many clinical conditions including sinusitis, sports injuries andneoplastic diseases for years with a great safety profile. Herein, we present ayoung female patient with long -term erythema multiforme attacks induced byherpes simplex infections.
