Their structures have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and also thermal analysis. In both structures, the metal center adopts an elongated octahedral geometry in which two chelating amine ligands occupy the square plane in a trans-position, and two perchlorate ligands occupy the axial sites. The thermal stability of both complexes is relatively high.
