Öğe Design and implementation of solar powered water pumping system with mppt control(Karabük Üniversitesi, Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, 2024) Alrajoubi, Hamza Mohamed; Öncü, SelimThis thesis proposes a hybrid maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm to control a single-stage solar water pumping system utilizing a brushless DC (BLDC) motor. The algorithm combines the Golden-Section Search optimization with the Incremental Conductance (GSS-INC) to achieve global maximum power point (GMPP). The GSS-INC MPPT algorithm with the proportional integral derivative (PID) regulator can efficiently regulate motor speed and extract optimal photovoltaic (PV) power. A well-designed PV system with an efficient MPPT control is essential. For this purpose, a cost-effective driver is designed and manufactured, and the control procedures are monitored. The GSS technique initially covers a search space between 60% and 85% of open circuit voltage (V_OC), and the search space expands if the optimal PV voltage lies outside this range. In contrast, the INC-MPPT employs a small step size to reduce power oscillation and respond accurately to slight weather changes. A key feature of the hybrid algorithm is its ability to detect sudden and considerable weather changes efficiently to restart the initial global search Experimental results verify that the GSS rapidly confines the GMPP while the INC-MPPT accurately tracks it. Results show that the Perturb and Observe (P&O) MPPT and the INC-MPPT techniques are practically powerful under uniform conditions, operating within a well-defined search space.
