Öğe Design and Implementation of 3-Phase Induction Motors Speed Controller by Using Low Cost 8-Bit Microcontroller(Gazi Univ, 2009) Bay, Omer Faruk; Gorgunoglu, SalihAC induction motors are widely used in industrial applications. These motors are generally worked in variable speed. Speed control of the AC motors are more complex compared with the DC motors. In this study, a three phase induction motor speed controller is designed and imlemented by using 8-bit microcontroller. Six step inverter is controlled by microcontroller which produce PWM signals by using lookup table and variable speed has been obtained by changing the voltage and its frequency at the output of inverter. Designed system which uses 8 bit microcontroller is low cost and can be implemented easily.Öğe A Fault Diagnosis of Engine Starting System Via Starter Motors Using Fuzzy Logic Algorithm(Gazi Univ, 2011) Bay, Omer Faruk; Bayir, RaifUncertainties in the system models, the presence of noise and the stochastic behavior of several variables reduce the reliability and robustness of the fault diagnosis methods. For overcoming these kinds of problems, this study proposes the fault diagnosis of starter motors based on fuzzy logic methodology. A starter motor is a serial wound dc motor which is used for running the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). If a fault occurs with the starter motor, the ICE cannot be run. Especially in emergency vehicles (such as ambulance, fire engine, etc), starter motor faults causes any other faults. In this study, a fuzzy logic based fault detection system has been developed for implementation on emergency vehicles. Information of the current and the voltage of a starter motor is acquired and then practiced on a fuzzy logic fault diagnosis system (FLFDS). For this purpose, a graphical user interface (GUI) software is developed by using Visual Basic 6.0 programming language. FLFDS is effective in detection of six types of starter motor faults. The proposed system can be used in a Quality Control unit of manufacturers and maintenance-repairing units.Öğe Implementation of a Photovoltaik Sourced Fuzzy Logic Controlled Synchronous Buck Converter(Gazi Univ, 2012) Bay, Omer Faruk; Uysal, AliIn this study, a fuzzy logic controlled synchronous buck converter design has been realized to produce hydrogen with electrolysis. Electrical energy obtained from solar panels which is one of the renewable energy sources is used as energy sources. The aim of the proposed buck converter is to obtain constant output current at variable loads and variable input voltages. PWM technique is used for controlling of switches on the system. Fuzzy Logic Controller is used as control algorithm. Proposed system has been tested at variable loads and variable supply voltages using both PI controller and fuzzy logic controller to show the effectiveness of the fuzzy control algorithm. According to the experimental results, fuzzy logic controller has faster response time and has lower overshot and less steady state error than PI controller.
