The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of ferritin, vitamin B12 and folate levels on outcomes of pregnancy in 3rd trimester pregnant women. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included a total of 72 pregnant women in the third trimester of pregnancy. Vitamin and mineral analyses of the patients were applied. Patients were questioned in respect of whether or not iron and vitamin supplements were taken during pregnancy, the mode of delivery and the history of postpartum problems in infant. Results: As the number of children increased, so an increase was seen in the incidence of anemia. Of the mothers of newborns with medical problems, 60% had anemia. There was no statistically significant difference in the mean birth weight according to the presence or absence of maternal anemia. Anemia in pregnant women is defined as hemoglobin level below 11.0 g/dL in the first and third trimester and below 10.5 g/dL in the second trimester. No significant difference was determined in anemia status according to the mode of delivery. No difference in anemia was detected in infants, regardless of whether or not their mothers took vitamin and mineral supplements. Conclusion: Anemia in the third trimester has no effect on the mode or time of delivery, weight and general condition of the newborn. To decide the effect of anemia on the outcome of pregnancy, further studies with more participants are needed.Öğe The Effects of Music Therapy on Vital Signs and Dental Anxiety Prior to Dental Surgery(Duzce Univ, 2019) Kocaman, Gulhan; Benli, Neriman CetinObjective: Dental surgery is performed under local anesthesia and the patient's consciousness is clear during the surgery, resulting in increased anxiety in the patient and the development of surgical complications. To investigate the effects of music therapy on vital signs and dental anxiety prior to periodontal surgery. Methods: Having received their informed consents prior to surgery, in the scope of this study, a questionnaire including Corah Dental Anxiety Scale was applied to 35 patients admitted to Oral and Dental Health Centre's Periodontology Clinic for periodontal surgery. Vital signs and mouth opening measurements including blood pressure, pulse and respiration were performed. Then the music therapy was performed. In the application of music therapy, the patients were asked to take the position they feel most comfortable in, couchant or seated, and close their eyes while the setting was kept quiet. With headphones, they were exposed to the soothing sound of water and reed flute. After the application, vital signs and mouth opening measurement were re-evaluated. Results: In our study, 68.8% of the patients stated that dental treatment was not fearful but the rate of dental anxiety before dental surgery was found to be 85.7%. It was found that systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, pulse and mouth opening measurements of the patients were significantly affected (p <0.05) and no statistically significant changes were observed in the respiratory system. Conclusions: The music therapy performed before periodontal surgery was found to be a cost-effective, painless, non-adverse non-pharmacological sedative and anxiolytic on vital signs and mouth opening.Öğe Evaluation of Causes Application on Medical Board(Duzce Univ, 2016) Benli, Ali Ramazan; Yazici, Senay Demir; Yazici, Onur; Cortuk, Mustafa; Inci, Habibe; Benli, Neriman CetinAim: Disabled patients are admitted to the medical board to determine the disability rate in order to use the occupational, health and social rights in Turkey. We aimed to contribute to epidemiological data on people with disabilities in our city. Methods: Between January 2014 and December 2014 the records of patients were admitted to the medical board of Karabuk University Training and Research Hospital, and they were analyzed retrospectively. Results: In the medical board in January 2014-December 2014, 2637 cases were evaluated. 1554 of these patients were male (58.9%), 1083 women (41%). With the increase of age, the frequency of application increased, too. Maximum application was in the group who are above 65 years of age. The numbers of cases by over 40% points are 1834 people (69.5%). 1055 of them were men (40%), 779 were women (29.5%). When the cases were evaluated according to the distribution of branches, 976 cases (37%) in musculoskeletal system were identified. The least disability was in Obstetrics and Gynecology with 8 cases (0.3%). Conclusion: Quality of life of the disabled population and the quality of services which are offered to them are closely related to the level of development of the society.
