Öğe Covid-19 Pandemic and Its Effects on Dentistry: A Retrospective Study(Marmara Univ, Inst Health Sciences, 2021) Erdinc, Gulbahar; Cirakoglu, Neslihan YilmazObjective: The purpose of this study was to compare patient admissions, treatment needs, and treatments in our hospital before and after the Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: The patients who presented to Karabuk Oral Dental Health Training and Research Hospital between March 2019 and March 2021 were retrospectively evaluated. The data obtained were used to compare the 1-year process after the Covid-19 pandemic and the 1-year process before the Covid-19 pandemic. In this 2-year period, the number of hospital registrations, distribution of patients by gender, age data, type, and the number of procedures performed were obtained from the software system used in the hospital. Results: The average number of patients admitted to the hospital per month in 1 year before the pandemic is approximately 3.5 times in the next 1 year. When the number of patients applying was evaluated in terms of gender, it is seen that the number of male patients decreased more than women during the pandemic period. It has been observed that there is a dramatic decrease in the pandemic period in all treatments. Conclusion: With the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a serious decrease in the number of patients. However, with the ongoing treatment needs and normalization processes of the patients, necessary precautions were taken and the treatment of the patients continued.Öğe The impact of socioeconomic factors and oral hygiene habits on knowledge level of oral health and procedures: The questionnaire based research(Marmara Univ, Inst Health Sciences, 2021) Cirakoglu, Neslihan Yilmaz; Gokcek, MihribanObjective: The purpose of this study is to describe oral health behaviour of the individuals and determine the relationship level of knowledge of the participants about dental health and procedures and their personal variables. Methods: The total number of participants who answered the questionnaire was 575. Oral health behaviours were assessed according to tooth brushing frequency, dental floss or interdental brush use, when was the last time he/she went to dentist and their reason for going to the dentist. Also, the eight dental health knowledge items were selected to determine the individual's dental health knowledge status. Results: There was no statistical difference between the ages of the participants and the knowledge levels of dental health and procedures (p=0.089, p>0.05). There was statistical difference between level of education and the knowledge levels of dental health and procedures (p=0.001, p<0.05). There was statistical difference between level of family income and the knowledge levels of dental health and procedures. (p=0.001, p<0.05). There was statistical difference between dental floss or interdental brush using and the knowledge levels of dental health and procedures (p=0.001, p<0.05). Conclusion: The findings of the present study showed that Oral hygiene habits and oral and dental health knowledge level is insufficient in our society. Preventive and educational programs should be developed in order to both improve and inform individuals about oral care.Öğe Nonsurgical management of type II dens invaginatus with cone beam computed tomography: A rare case(Pakistan Medical Assoc, 2022) Cirakoglu, Neslihan Yilmaz; Cicek, ErsanDens invaginatus is a progressive abnormality resulting from invagination of the crown or root before calcification. This case report presents nonsurgical endodontic treatment and nine-year follow-up results of a right maxillary canine tooth with type II dens invaginatus. A 40-year-old female patient was referred to the clinic for treatment of her maxillary right canine tooth. The invagination was managed on a two-visit appointment. On the first visit, the invagination area, which was disconnected, was completely removed from the root canal. The invagination area was instrumented, and the root canal was dressed with calcium hydroxide. At the second appointment, apexification was done using mineral trioxide aggregate compacted to the apical 3mm. Finally, the invaginated area and the root canal were obturated with a warm vertical compaction technique. At a nine-year follow-up, the invaginated tooth was asymptomatic, and the periradicular lesion showed satisfactory healing radiographically.Öğe A Novel Technique for Identification of Wear Values at Different Lengths after Multiple Clinical Use of Different File Systems(Mdpi, 2022) Cirakoglu, Neslihan Yilmaz; Cicek, Ersan; Ozarpa, Cevat; Ozbay, Yagiz; Ozdemir, OlcayIntroduction The purpose of this research is to assess the wearing of the rotary file system (Protaper Next) and reciprocating file systems (Reciproc Blue and WaveOne Gold) at different lengths using a novel technique after in vivo clinical use. Materials and Methods Twelve different unused samples from each brand were accepted as reference values. For three different brands, the diameters of the files were measured by taking 12 samples used once, 12 samples used twice, and 12 samples used three times. Images were taken with a USB Micron Microscope, and file diameters were measured by determining limit values with Autocad. Result Reciproc Blue system was the most worn at apical 1 mm, and WaveOne Gold system was the most worn at apical 3 mm. PTN system exhibited the least wearing at any length. Moreover, less wearing was observed in the rotation motion than in the reciprocating motion. Conclusion In clinical practice, for the guttapercha to be fully adapted to the apical construction prepared according to the determined WL, the file should not undergo any wearing and volume reduction. Wearing-especially in the apical parts of the file-causes less preparation, and this situation could lead to apically obturation failure.Öğe YouTube as an information source for instrument separation in root canal treatment(Korean Acad Conservative Dentistry, 2021) Ozbay, Yagiz; Cirakoglu, Neslihan YilmazObjectives: The reliability and educational quality of videos on YouTube for patients seeking information regarding instrument separation in root canal treatment were evaluated. Materials and Methods: YouTube was searched for videos on instrument separation in root canal treatment. Video content was scored based on reliability in terms of 3 categories (etiology, procedure, and prognosis) and based on video flow, quality, and educational usefulness using the Global Quality Score (GQS). Descriptive statistics were obtained and the data were analyzed using analysis of variance and the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The highest mean completeness scores were obtained for videos published by dentists or specialists (1.48 +/- 1.06). There was no statistically significant difference among sources of upload in terms of content completeness. The highest mean GQS was found for videos published by dentists or specialists (1.82 +/- 0.96), although there was no statistically significant correlation between GQS and the source of upload. Conclusions: Videos on YouTube have incomplete and low- quality content for patients who are concerned about instrument separation during endodontic treatment, or who experience this complication during endodontic treatment.
