Öğe A Digital Tool for Customized Mass Housing Design(Ecaade-Education & Research Computer Aided Architectural Design Europe, 2014) Dincer, Ahmet Emre; Cagdas, Gulen; Tong, HakanInnovative design approaches are needed for mass housing implementations. Especially increasing interaction between user and designer is major important in the design decisions of these buildings. For this, it is seriously necessary to benefit from technological advances in computational designs, because digital tools like shape grammar, cellular automata, genetic algorithm, l-systems and agent-based models in this field provide not only to save time and to manage the relationships but also to generate many different alternatives. Accordingly, a digital support tool for designers has been developed by using cellular automata approach and scripts of 3Ds Max software. It produces samples of housing design plans which is generated by cellular automata approach according to the data of users' preferences. In this paper the interface and contributions of the developed model are introduced and discussed.Öğe Evaluating the Design Principles of Traditional Safranbolu Houses(Mdpi, 2024) Sahin, Ruveyda; Dincer, Ahmet EmreSafranbolu, located in the Western Black Sea region of northern Turkey, consists of three historical settlements distinguished by monumental buildings and especially traditional houses. For this reason, the city was declared a 'World Heritage Site' by UNESCO in 1994. Traditional Safranbolu houses are examples of Turkish houses built with mixed techniques. In research on Turkish residences and traditional Safranbolu houses, the focus has been on the origin of dwelling construction culture, the spatial reading of the parts of the house, the sociocultural life of the owners, and the surveying of traditional construction techniques. In this study, the design principles affecting the spatial arrangement of Safranbolu houses were evaluated from a holistic perspective. Dwellings selected from Safranbolu sites were analyzed at the urban scale according to the environmental design data of the residential area. It can be seen that houses were designed in a certain order according to these factors. In the building scale analyses, the diversity in the domestic space configuration was surveyed by the drawings of immediate environments at the plans and sections of the houses. The study contributes by explaining the relationship between parcel characteristics and house design.Öğe A Generative Computer Model for Preliminary Design of Mass Housing(Yildiz Technical Univ, Fac Architecture, 2014) Dincer, Ahmet Emre; Cagdas, Gulen; Tong, HakanToday, we live in what we call the Information Age, an age in which information technologies are constantly being renewed and developed. Out of this has emerged a new approach called Computational Design or Digital Design. In addition to significantly influencing all fields of engineering, this approach has come to play a similar role in all stages of the design process in the architectural field. In providing solutions for analytical problems in design such as cost estimate, circulation systems evaluation and environmental effects, which are similar to engineering problems, this approach is being used in the evaluation, representation and presentation of traditionally designed buildings. With developments in software and hardware technology, it has evolved as the studies based on design of architectural products and production implementations with digital tools used for preliminary design stages. This paper presents a digital model which may be used in the preliminary stage of mass housing design with Cellular Automata, one of generative design systems based on computational design approaches. This computational model, developed by scripts of 3Ds Max software, has been implemented on a site plan design of mass housing, floor plan organizations made by user preferences and facade designs. By using the developed computer model, many alternative housing types could be rapidly produced. The interactive design tool of this computational model allows the user to transfer dimensional and functional housing preferences by means of the interface prepared for model. The results of the study are discussed in the light of innovative architectural approaches.Öğe Re-Defining Traditional Bazaar Areas and Shade Structures Via Parametric Design Methods(Selcuk Univ, 2017) Dincer, Ahmet Emre; Bektas, Ibrahim; Iyican, A. Bilgehan; Engin, AbdulsametFor the continuation of life, people created various equipment and goods. To create mutual benefits, they've exchanged the overpruduced items with different products. This has begun the shopping act. By the increased amount of transactions, a need of defined area for shopping have arisen. For a temporary time, trading areas have been developed at different locations at a certain period. In the course of time, beside trading, these areas served as socio-cultural spaces where the human relations were established. Moreover, demand of being able to immediately access to needed goods have emerged. This situation made having a permanent trading area essential. Therefore, enclosed and permanent trade areas from bazaar, inn, bedesten, arasta to shopping malls have emerged. Next to all these trading areas, traditional bazaar areas keep being established. Nowadays, there is a need of providing some determined comfort conditions to the users for these street alley bazaars. Decreasing the effect of unfavorable weather conditions and providing supportive certain services and units (like WCs, security, cleanliness, etc.) are some of them. As a fundamental solution, without disengaging the user relations with the outside, shade structures are generally provided. Shade structures can support cleaning and similar jobs by gathering and using rainwater besides its purpose of protecting the user from bad weather conditions. Application examples of these systems are gradually increasing. However, it is necessary to develop new approaches, in order to stop these proposed shade structures, become prototypes and to adapt the proposal to its environment and to increase diversity. In this study, a convenient shade structure and its alternatives, which are adapted to environmental conditions, were designed to create a sample model for other bazaar areas. In models, basically, folding design approaches were pursued. For production of these shade structure models, parametric modelling technics (Grasshoppers and Rhinoceros software) were used and different variations of model were generated. Chosen examples of models were evaluated in the aspect of feasibility. A comparison was made between the existing examples and our designed models. Ecological contributions of these models were also taken into consideration and harvestable rainwater amount by this system was calculated. Accordingly, advantages of the system to the bazaar area and to its environment were studied.
