Öğe Demographic features of turkish literature audiences and applied analysis of the factors affecting their reading preferences(American-Eurasian Network for Scientific Information, 2014) Poyraz, Y.; Korkmaz, M.; Yücel, A.S.; Aras, G.; Çelebi, N.The purpose of this study is to determine factors affecting reading preferences in parallel with the demographic features of Turkish literature audiences. The study lasted approximately for 7 months. (N=650) individuals attended the study in total. The universe of the study is Turkey while the sample of the study is composed of 8 different provinces. These provinces are Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Trabzon and Gaziantep. A questionnaire form whose reliability and validity had been ensured before and which was composed of 5 point Likert scale was used in the study. The questionnaire form was reformed in accordance with the topic of the study, it was subjected to validity and reliability test and it was carried into main practice through taking views of experts. Data acquired from the results of main practice was analyzed by using SPSS 18.0 packet program and the value of 0.924 was acquired as Cronbach’s Alpha co-efficient. This value indicates that the measuring tool used in this study is quite reliable. The questionnaire is composed of two sections. In the first section, there are questions with regard to determine demographic features of the participants while in the second section, there are scaled questions composed of 120 items. 0.05 of significance level was taken into account among variables in terms of relations and differences. Methods such as different statistics anova, factor and hypothesis tests were applied in the analysis. Moreover, 4 different literary works were mentioned in the study so as to determine attitudes and behaviors of the participants towards literary works. Opinions of the participants were demanded about novels such as Intibah (Rebirth), Araba Sevdasi (Ambition for Car), Mai ve Siyah (Blue and Black) and Çalikusu (The Wren). At the end of the study, it was found out that the participants followed academic publications more frequently, the use of computer and internet had an effect on reading e-book and up-to-date books were read more than those books written in a foreign or ancient language (Ottoman Turkish). Furthermore, it was determined that education and age variables of the participants had an effect on reading habits while gender, age and education variables had an effect in some reading factors. © 2014 AENSI Publisher All rights reserved.Öğe Determination of relationship between thermal and mechanical properties of wood material(Korean Society of Wood Science Technology, 2019) Özcan, C.; Korkmaz, M.Non-destructive test techniques are becoming increasingly important for assessment and maintenance. These techniques are very useful for assessment of materials such as wood, whose performance can vary considerably depending on the conditions of use. It is possible to estimate some mechanical properties of a material by determining the movement of energy through the material with the help of these techniques. In this study, it was investigated whether the wood material could be tested nondestructively by the heat energy produced by a source. The correlations between the thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and sessile oak (Quercus petraea L.) woods were investigated. The thermal conductivity (TC), density, modulus of rupture (MOR), compression strength (CS), and modulus of elasticity (MOE) values of samples were measured according to the related standards and these values were correlated with each other. The linear and multiple regression tests were employed to determine the correlation between thermal conductivity and mechanical properties. The results showed that there is a very strong correlation between thermal conductivity and both density and MOR values. However, the correlations between TC and both MOE and CS were moderate. The results of this study suggest that the thermal conductivity value can be used to estimate the density and some mechanical properties of wood. © 2019, Korean Society of Wood Science Technology. A questionnaire with 28 questions was prepared for this purpose. The questionnaire was sent through email to all of the active students enrolled in these faculties. The study firstly provides information on the distance education system of Anadolu University and its faculties that provide education through this method, on the number of students in the faculties, and on the percentages of female and male students preferring various departments. Then, it discusses the importance of distance education for women in terms of the concept of gender, woman – man roles and gender equality. In the section of findings, 2018 questionnaires received from the students were analyzed through the SPSS software and evaluated. The assessment considered the students? demographic characteristics; their level of participation in the programs; their reason for preferring distance education; the time they allocate for the courses; their use of computer and the Internet; whether they, especially the women, would prefer distance education if their gender was different, and the materials they most commonly use in the distance education system. In the conclusion, the data were assessed comparatively from a gender perspective. © 2015 AENSI Publisher All rights reserved.Öğe EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF PID-CONTROLLED HEAT RECOVERY AIR HANDLING UNIT BY MACHINE LEARNING METHODS(Begell House Inc., 2023) Budak, E.; Korkmaz, M.; Dogan, A.; Ceylan, I.The need for energy continues to increase rapidly all over the world day by day. The demand for energy is rising in developing economies and industrial production areas in these economies. Energy is one of the essential inputs for business areas. Today, most energy is used in buildings for the purpose of heating, cooling, and air conditioning. The problem with air-conditioning systems is that the airflow remains constant despite the change in the number of people in the interior areas. The interest of this paper is to explore how the thermal comfort and air quality of a cloud-based proportional integral derivative (PID)-controlled plate heat exchanger recovery air handling unit were investigated in a classroom environment. Depending on the variables of the temperature and humidity of the outdoor environment, the number of students in the classroom, and the amount of fresh air sent to the indoor environment, the temperature, humidity, and air quality values of the indoor environment were controlled. In line with the data received from the cloud-based system, indoor temperature and indoor air quality values were analyzed by using the machine learning methods separately, that is, support vector machine (SVM), Gauss process regression (GPR), regression trees (RT), and ensembles of trees (ET). In the experiment set, the class’s CO2, temperature, and relative humidity values were compared with the R2 values by machine learning methods when the air handling unit was started. As a result of the comparison, the R2 value of the amount of CO2 was obtained from the GPR method at 99%, the temperature amount from the GPR method at 93%, and the relative humidity amount from the GPR method at 98%. © 2023 Begell House Inc..
