Öğe Effects of pack boriding temperature on wear and corrosion performance of high-strength armor steel(ICE Publishing, 2025-01-28) Neccaroglu, Vahap; Karademir, Ibrahim; Unal, OkanThis study systematically investigates the effects of pack boriding on the microstructure, hardness, wear, and corrosion resistance of armor steel. A saw-like boride layer was formed as a result of the treatment at temperatures of 800, 900, and 1000 °C. The thickness of the boride layer was positively influenced by increases in temperature. At 1000 °C, the microhardness of the borided surface achieved a maximum level of 3250 HV0.02. The wear resistance of the borided specimens was improved significantly, resulting in a notable reduction in volume losses. Furthermore, the boriding process enhanced the corrosion resistance of the steel by a factor of three to four. Specimens borided at 1000 °C demonstrated the highest level of corrosion resistance.
