Öğe A Bibliometric Analysis of the Nexus Network Journal(Kim Williams Books, 2022) Sheibaniaghdam, Daniz; Selcuk, Semra ArslanThe state of architectural research and practice has historically been closely connected to the expansion of knowledge in mathematics. This relation leads the evolution of architecture in parallel with mathematics. As a result, investigating these disciplines together provides significant insights into notable changes in architecture from past to present. This paper explores core themes in architecture-mathematics relation and investigates this relationship from various perspectives. In this respect, the Nexus Network Journal, as a journal that focuses on the nexus of architecture and mathematics, was selected for bibliometric analysis. This study includes a survey of the journal's articles published between 2008-2021 accessible from the Web of Science database. Our research revealed core literature and sources that nourished the journal, recognized main actors and their social networks, and, lastly, clustered the articles published in the Nexus Network Journal to identify core themes.Öğe EXPLANATION OF ORDER AND CHAOS THROUGH SEQUENCES: ABSTRACT THINKING IN BASIC DESIGN EDUCATION(Anadolu Univ, 2023) Sheibaniaghdam, Daniz; Zengin, Gozde; Hajiamiri, MiladThis study aimed to demonstrate high potential in using mathematics to facilitate the transmission of design principles in basic design education. It provided an example of how students' previous mathematical knowledge could be utilized to assist them in understanding the initial design principles. In this respect, sequence as a mathematical concept was used to explain the concepts of order and chaos to the first-year industrial design students who had basic mathematics knowledge. The case was studied as part of a workshop in which students from a Karabuk University's basic design studio participated. As part of the workshop's theme, waste materials were utilized in the design process. The purpose of this study was to provide a teaching method for improving the dialog between teachers and students in basic design studio without providing existing examples which can interfere the learning process and limit or hinder the students' creativity. A similar methodology can be developed based on other mathematical concepts in order to clarify and teach design principles in the future.Öğe Explanation of “order” and “chaos” through “sequences”: abstract thinking in basic design education(2023) Sheibaniaghdam, Daniz; Zengın, Gözde; Hajıamırı, MıladThis study aimed to demonstrate high potential in using mathematics to facilitate the transmission of design principles in basic design education.
