Öğe Evolution of Social Work Education in Turkey: A Critical Perspective(Springer International Publishing, 2020) Zengin, O.; Yildirim, B.This chapter is about social work development in Turkey. Social work education in Turkey started in the 1950s via United Nations experts. When these experts meet with government officials, they decided to start social work education under the Ministry of Health and Social Assistance. After this decision, the Social Work Academy was established in 1959 to provide education for four years after high school graduation under the Ministry of Health and Social Assistance, in accordance with the Law No. 7355 on the Establishment of the Social Work Institute. In 1982, the academy was admitted to Hacettepe University in accordance with the Law on Higher Education and received the name of School of Social Work. In 2002, Baskent University has started social work education, too. This was a milestone because Hacettepe University School of Social work was the only organisation providing social work education in Turkey for 41 years. Since 2006, there has been a large increase in the number of social work departments and there are now nearly 70 departments. But today there are huge problems about curriculum that not specifically developed for Turkey (especially consist of American thoughts), non-social work educated academics, open education system, and increased unemployment in parallel with increasing number of graduates. This chapter will focus on these problems. © The Author(s) 2021.Öğe Influence of Nano-WC Addition on Wear Performances of Cu-Ni Matrix Nanocomposites(Polish Acad Sciences Inst Physics, 2019) Cug, H.; Demirtas, H.; Erden, M. A.; Akgul, Y.; Turan, M. E.; Zengin, O.The present study focuses on the effect of tungsten carbide content on wear behavior of Cu based composites which are generally preferred in engineering applications. Nickel 4 wt% was used as the binding agent in order to develop wetting ability between matrix and reinforcement. Cu-4Ni matrix composites were fabricated via powder metallurgy incorporating the different amount of present study focuses on the effect of tungsten carbide (0.5, 1 and 2 wt%). Wear tests were conducted using three different loads (5 N, 10 N and 20 N) in dry sliding conditions. Results showed that hardness of the composites increased with increasing tungsten carbide content. Tungsten carbide additions also lead to improving the wear resistance of copper matrix composites. Abrasive wear mechanism was generally observed for all samples especially for higher loads according to the scanning electron microscope (SEM) resultsÖğe Investigation of Microstructural and Mechanical Properties of Zirconium Carbide Reinforced Aluminum Matrix Nanocomposites(Polish Acad Sciences Inst Physics, 2019) Cug, H.; Zengin, O.This study aims to investigate the effect of zirconium carbide (ZrC) nanoparticles on mechanical performances of pure aluminum. Composites Al-0.5ZrC, Al-1ZrC, Al-2ZrC were fabricated by powder metallurgy. Hardness test was performed for all specimens. Compression test was conducted at room temperature. Results clearly show that homogenously distribution of nanoparticles was achieved up to 1 wt% reinforcement addition according to the scanning electron microscope results. The hardness of pure aluminum was increased significantly. Compression strength was also improved considerably with the addition of nano-reinforcements. Al-1ZrC composite showed best performance among the samples.
