dc.description.abstractIn the world, foreign student circulation is increasing day by day inhigher education. This increase is affected in Turkey. For example,number of students who coming to Turkey for higher education 2013-2014 academic year, 48.183, this number has increased by more thantwo times in 4 years and reached 108,076 in 2016-2017 academicyear(yok.gov.tr). Turkey's position is, potentially, relations with othercountries, belief structure, progress in economic and social fields,foreigners coming to our country has been effective in increasing thenumber of students. This increasing can be considered as a satisfactoryimprovement as for Turkey. However, it is important to know more aboutthe problems and difficulties that foreign students who come to mycountry have a peaceful, comfortable and productive tertiary education.In our country, it is necessary for certain students to identify theproblems they have experienced in areas such as private, economic,social, cultural, education, bureaucracy and to solve these problems.The main purpose of this study, is to try to determine the problemsfaced by foreign students who come to Turkey with the purpose of highereducation. The research was carried out at Karabuk University, whereabout 5 percent of the students who are in formal education are foreign.The result obtained from the survey study on 235 foreign studentswho are studying in formal education. According to the data obtained from the studies that foreign students stated that they had difficultieswith the differences in method of teaching and learning.The students who participated in the research also stated that theyhave some problems about food and beverages. It has been understoodthat nearly all of the foreign students use internet and social media asmass media. Furthermore, according to findings from the study, it wasunderstood that the vast majority of foreign students have experiencedimportant problems with respect to accommodation, communication andseasonal differences.en_US
