Öğe Bromelain improved long-term erythema multiforme attacks induced by herpes simplex infection: a case report(2019) Aktaş, HabibullahErythema multiforme is an immune- mediated skin disorder characterized byerythematous target –like macules, papules and plaques commonly locatedover distal extremities as well as mucosal involvement. It is mostly inducedby herpes simplex infections and various medications. Recurrences of herpessimplex infections result in new erythema multiforme lesions in immunologicallysusceptible people. Therefore, suppressing herpes reactivations also suppresseserythema multiforme attacks. Antiviral medications such as acyclovir, valacyclovirand famciclovir have limited capacity to prevent such recurrences due totheir inadequate efficiency after continuous use . Those patients usually seekan absolute remedy to prevent recurrences. Bromelain is a well-known herbalsupplement containing proteolytic enzymes produced from pineapple plant. Ithas been used in many clinical conditions including sinusitis, sports injuries andneoplastic diseases for years with a great safety profile. Herein, we present ayoung female patient with long -term erythema multiforme attacks induced byherpes simplex infections. She became free of disease after using oralbromelain 500 mg twice a day for one year.Öğe Cancer is seen more in older female patients with psoriasis : a cross-sectional study in 1551 patients(2019) Aktaş, Habibullah; Serıfoglu, CansuAim: The aim of this study was to establish the potential risk of the development of malignancy in the patients with psoriasis.Material and Methods: A retrospective analysis of psoriasis cases between January 2017 to August 2018 attending the dermatologyclinic at Karabuk Research and Training Hospital was carried out. The mean age of scabies patients decreased from 49.7 to 31.4 within 5 years (r=-0,753 p=0,006). The female patients were much more than male patients (56% vs 44%), and their mean age was older than males (44 vs 37) (p=0,000). Conclusion: Scabies cases are increasing in number and the mean age of the patients is decreasing gradually at recent years.Öğe Combination therapy of shave excision, intralesional steroid injection, and topical imiquimod in the treatment of ear keloid(2019) Ertuğrul, Süha; Aktaş, Habibullah; Ertuğrul, GöksenKeloids are benign proliferative lesions caused byabnormal healing. Treatment of keloids is verydifficult due to high recurrence rates. In keloids, thereare many treatment modalities that can vary accordingto lesion size, localization, and previous interventions.A 17-year-old female patient presented with aposterior ear keloid that developed after pearcing intoher ear. Results: Looking at the IIEF-5 scores of 95 patients accepted to the study, it was found that 22 (23.1%) had mild, 20 (21%) moderate and 53 (55.9%) severe ED. Smoking history was higher in the severe ED group (p <0.001). It was found that a total of 32 (33.7%) patients had OM. However, there was no relationship between the severity of ED and the presence of OM (p> 0.114). Conclusion: Erectile dysfunction and OM disease can often be seen together. However, no relationship was found with the severity of ED.Öğe A retrospective analysis on the concomitance of seborrheic dermatitis and fatty liver disease(2019) Aktaş, Habibullah; Öner, Serkan; Cebecık, AybalaThe present study aimed to investigate the correlation between seborrheic dermatitis and fatty liver disease and to determine the impact of age, gender, and concomitant chronic diseases. The present study sample included 120 (18-65 years old) patients who were diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis between January 2018 and December 2018 and underwent upper abdominal ultrasonography. The demographic patient data, the liver fatty tissue rate in ultrasonography reports and the presence of other concomitant diseases were analyzed in the present retrospective study. The mean age of 52 male and 68 female patients was 45.5 ± 17.2. A total of 47 (39.2%) patients had hepatic steatosis. Hepatic steatosis rate was 52% in male patients and 29.4% in female patients. The mean age of the patients with hepatic steatosis was 54.8 ± 12.7, and the mean age of the patients with normal liver findings was 38.7 ± 17.2 (p <0.05). The number of patients with other concomitant chronic disease and seborrheic dermatitis was 56 (46.6%), and common concomitant diseases included hypertension (17.5%), diabetes (11.6%), hypothyroidism (7.5%) and hyperlipidemia (5%). Fatty liver disease was diagnosed in 59% of the patients with a comorbid disease, and this rate was 22% in the group without a comorbid disease (p <0.05). In patients with seborrheic dermatitis, as the age progressed and other internal diseases accompanied the disease, the likelihood of hepatic steatosis increased. Furthermore, hepatic steatosis was more common among male seborrheic dermatitis patients.Öğe Sağmaç nodülü(2016) Aktaş, Habibullah; Ertuğrul, Gökçen; Ergın, CanSağmaç nodülü (sütçü nodülü) pox virüs ailesinden parapox virüslerin neden olduğu, benign seyirli bir deri hastalığıdır.
