Özet
Tokat geleneksel yıkanma mekanları açısından oldukça zengin bir şehirdir. Geçmişte kentte bulunan hamam sayısı bu şehrin nüfusuna göre oldukça fazlaydı. Bu durum Tokat şehrinde hamamlara gösterilen ilgi ve hamam kültürüne verilen önem ile açıklanabilir. Başlangıcından itibaren, kentte gelişen hamam kültürü, Patrona Halil İsyanı'ndan sonra Tokat halkının hamamların işletilmesinde daha fazla rol alması ve burada çalışmasıyla yaygınlaşmıştır. Geleneksel Tokat konutlarında yıkanma yerleri; odalardaki dolaplar içinde yer alan ""gusülhaneler"", taşlık veya ""cağ"" kısmındaki banyo köşeleri ile büyük köşklerin bina veya bahçesindeki ev hamamlarıdır. Tokat kentindeki halk hamamları ise mahalle hamamları ve çarşı hamamları olarak nitelendirilebilir. Son yıllarda sağlık ve temizlik bilincinin artması ve şehir yönetiminin bu yapılara verdiği değer ile Tokat hamamlarının koruma sorunları gündeme gelmiştir. Bugün, bu yapılar büyük ölçüde belgelenmiştir. Ancak bozulmalar, çökmeler ve tahribatlar görülmektedir. Tokat'taki hamamların oluşumu, yaşatılması ve korunması kapsamında bu eserlerin ve kültürün gelecek nesillere aktarılması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Tokat'ta hamam kültürü ve hamam kültürünün yarattığı değerlerin, ve yıkanma mekanlarının mevcut durumu incelenerek belgelenmiştir.
Tokat is a very rich city in terms of traditional bathing places. In the past, the number of baths in the city was quite high compared to the population of this city. This situation can be explained by the interest shown to the baths in the city of Tokat and the importance given to the bath culture. The bath culture, which developed in the city from the beginning, became widespread after the Patrona Halil Rebellion, with the people of Tokat taking a greater role in the operation of the baths and working here. Washing places in traditional Tokat residences; These are the ""gusulhanes"" in the cabinets in the rooms, the bathroom corners in the courtyard or ""cağ"" part, and, the house baths inside the building or in the garden of the big mansions. Public baths in the city of Tokat can be described as neighborhood-‘’mahalle’’ baths and bazaar baths. In recent years, with the increase in health and cleanliness awareness and the value given by the city administration to these structures, the protection problems of Tokat baths have come to the fore. Today, these structures are largely documented. However, deteriorations, collapses and destructions are observed. Within the scope of the formation, survival and protection of the baths in Tokat, it is necessary to transfer these artifacts and culture to future generations. In this study, the bath culture and the values created by the bathing culture, and the current situation of the bathing places in Tokat have been examined and documented."
