Özet
This study focused on the difficulties experienced by Turkish school principals in the education of refugee students, and their efforts to overcome these difficulties. In addition, based on the opinions of school principals, the reasons why refugee students have difficulty adapting to the new education system were also examined. A qualitative research method was employed, and the participants were 17 school principals. The data were gathered through semi-structured interviews. School principals have to deal with problems related to second language acquisition, psychological needs, the lack of language support staff, the lack of staff with experience in multicultural education, prejudice and discrimination against refugees in society, and the poverty of families. In the opinions of the school principals, the adaptation of refugee students to school is limited by monolingual and monocultural education, the lack of preparatory programs and education programs for refugees, society's negative view of refugees, personnel problems related to multicultural education, and the economic conditions of families. In this regard, it was concluded that school principals have difficulty in coping with many complex problems such as the lack of readiness of the education system for refugee students, prejudice against refugees in society, and the adverse economic conditions of refugees.
