Çalışmanın örneklemini sözel ve yazılı onam veren 85’i Batılı ülkelerde yaşayan, 65’i Türkiye’de yaşayan toplam 150 kadın hasta oluşturdu.
The study was carried out as a descriptive and comparative study between October 2021 and March 2022 to compare the body appreciation and acceptance of cosmetic surgery among women who have undergone plastic surgery. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 150 female patients, 85 of whom lived in Western countries and 65 of whom lived in Turkey, who gave verbal and written consent. Descriptive Statistics Form, Body Appreciation Scale (BAS), and Acceptance of Cosmetic Surgery Scale (ACSS) were used to collect of the data. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Mann Whitney U Test, Kruskal Wallis Analysis of Variance, Spearman's Correlation Coefficient, Linear Regression. A difference was found between the mean BAS total score of women living in Turkey and Western countries (p<0.01). While there was no difference between the ACCS sub-dimension and total score averages of women living in Turkey and Western countries (p>0.05), the difference was determined about BAS total and ACCS sub-dimension between the women who had fat removal (liposuction), butt fat injection, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and those who did not have (p<0.05). In line with the results obtained from the study, a positive correlation was found between the mean BAS and ACCS scores of women living in Turkey and Western countries (p<0.01). In this direction, it is recommended to exhibit an individualized holistic approach to women from different countries and cultures who have undergone plastic surgery, to conduct studies with large populations affecting the body appreciation of women living in Western countries, and to conduct studies investigating the body appreciation and acceptance of cosmetic surgery by women from more countries with different cultures."
