The aim of this descriptive and cross-sectional study is to evaluate the anxiety of patients admitting to the emergency department with the suspicion of COVID-19. The study was conducted with 350 patients who applied to the Safranbolu State Hospital Emergency Service between 25 January 2022 and 25 April 2022 with the suspicion of COVID 19, and were asked for PCR test by their emergency doctor. The data of the study were collected via the Participant Information Form, the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS), and the Templer Death Anxiety Scale (TÖKÖ). Descriptive statistical methods, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis analysis of variance, Chi-Square, Fisher's Exact test, Spearman's Correlation coefficient and Logistic Regression analysis were used to evaluate the data. The mean total score of CAI of the patients was 0.90±2.23, and the mean total score of TOS was 7.72±3.22, which was low. The death anxiety of individuals who applied to the emergency department with the suspicion of COVID-19 and had a high level of anxiety due to coronavirus also increased in direct proportion (r=0.190; p<0.001). Anxiety level due to COVID-19 for females, individuals with psychiatric problems and witnessing death with a diagnosis of Covid-19 has been recorded high (p<0.05). Death anxiety level due to COVID-19 for females, individuals with psychiatric problems and individuals with previous COVID-19 infection and death with a diagnosis of COVID-19 has been recorded high (p<0.05). In this respect, it is recommended to obtain detailed information about the sociodemographic characteristics and COVID-19 history of individuals who applied to the emergency room with the suspicion of COVID-19, to show a holistic approach and to provide psychosocial support especially for women and patients with psychiatric problems."
