Pat Barker is one of the significant novelists of the twentieth century. She lived a difficult period in her life due to the difficulties of life. Such circumstances affected Barker and her society as well with things that are portrayed as uncanny. Many past studies have tackled Pat Barker's works in terms of trauma, gender issues, gothic evocations, and the impact of war as an example. However, approaching Barker's works in light of Freud's concept of the Uncanny has not been done before. Thus, the current study examines The Trilogy of Regeneration within the perspective of Freud's the Uncanny (1919). The first objective of this study is to explore the characters' reactions toward the uncanniest representations in The Trilogy. The second objective is to examine the characters' attachments to the familiar and unfamiliar places that reflect the uncanniest atmosphere in the selected texts. The concept of the Uncanny by Freud is the conceptual framework of the study. The methodology lies in the examination of the uncanny places, figures, and haunted persons in The Trilogy. Textual analysis of the selected texts as well as the assumptions of the concept are the methodological tools of analysis. This study concludes that Barker's The Trilogy of Regeneration employs the uncanny to shock the characters and reader as well. Thus, most of the characters feel uncanny as a result of unfamiliar places and disgusting factors. After experiencing uncanny feelings, each of the characters behaves in a different haunted way without understanding and interpreting such feeling.
