Çalışmanın son bölümünde ise Hawksmoor ve The Known World arasındaki ortak noktaları üç motif açısından ortaya koymaktadır.
Postmodern period witnesses great transformations in different terms of literary approaches. This study aims to show New-Historicism in terms of history, time, and culture in Hawksmoor (1985) and The Known World (2003). The study is divided into three chapters and a conclusion, In the first chapter, the study focuses on the concept of history where two methods are focused upon like New-Historicism as a main source and Historiographical Metafiction as a branch. İn the second section, the researcher foucses on the circularity of time in the lens of new-historicism. The cultural concept is the last concept that has been approached in terms of new-historicism. İn the second part of the first chapter, Peter Ackroyd and Edward. P. Jones' biographies are mentioned. The researcher attempts to show their common grounds. İn the second chapter, Hawksmoor fiction is discussed according to the three concepts. The researcher focuses on the confrontation between enlightenment and occultism. Ackroyd portrays Wren as a reasonable thinker. On the other hand, Dyer is presented as an occultist architect. In the third chapter, The Known World is also discussed in terms of the three motives. The study shows the racial discrimination between the white and black races from one side. İt also shows the internal racism from another side as a black slaveholder named Henry starts to treat his own race much worse than the white ones. In the final part, the study shows the common grounds between Hawksmoor and The Known World in terms of the three motives.
