Abstract

This article reports on research that has developed a thermally robust school outline design for new schools in Turkey, taking into account the climatic diversity of the country. The work is based on an assessment of current schemes, augmented by the views of professional designers specializing in education buildings. Sensitivity analysis and transient building simulation using ESP-r are used to identify robust and sensitive parameters, with the robust parameters being fixed in the outline design, while the sensitive parameters remain open for later fine-tuning.
