Özet
In this study, the machinability of Aluminium 6082 alloy with brass electrode was investigated in the electro discharge machine. In the experimental study, Taguchi L9 orthogonal array experimental set was used. As the processing parameter, discharge current, pulse duration and waiting period were used. As a result of the machinability tests, the average surface roughness, material removal rate and electrode wear rate were investigated. Taguhci technique was used to determine the optimum cutting parameters. The effect of control factors on experimental results was calculated by using variance analysis. As a result of the experimental study, the most effective parameter on average surface roughness, material removal rate and electrode wear rate was determined as discharge current. It was found that the increase in discharge current negatively affects the average surface roughness and causes the electrode to worn more. Factors affecting the average surface roughness were calculated as discharge current 78.73%, pulse duration 15.78% and waiting period 1.8%. It was determined that the pulse duration and waiting period were not significant on the average surface roughness. © 2019, TUBITAK. All rights reserved.
