Recognizing the cognitive abilities of children is very important for them to have healthy and qualified cognitive equipment. Piaget's theory of cognitive development is the mostly accepted theory in the field of that development. In this study, we aim to examine the development of number, liquid and length conservation skills of children that are mentioned in the Piaget's theory in terms of gender and age variables. This study was designed as a qualitative study. Piaget's conservation problems. The working group was composed of 110 children (59 female and 51 male children) at the age of 5-9 years old (5:0-9:11 age/60-119 month). Piaget's conservation problems were used in order to collect the data. In the data analyses, frequency were used. Conclusively, it has been shown that gender and age have a significant effect on number, liquid and length conservation development of children. It has been determined that the conservation concepts are gained in girls at a higher rate than boys; and that concepts were gained after the age of 5 and increased at the age of 7-8 years old. And in the light of findings, it has been discussed whether the conservation development in children is convenient to Piaget's theory. © Tüm Haklari Saklidir.en_US
